Capsule Wardrobe

Essentials Needed for Building A Capsule Wardrobe

Basic Tees: Tees are easy to find, having a few options of different styles of tees can be helpful for putting together different outfits. I like to focus on a variety of different lengths of t-shirts and neck lengths. The essential colors I stick to are black, white, grey, and cream. I suggest owning a medium length and a crewneck neckline.

Long Sleeves: Similar to tees I focus on having a medium length and a cropped length of long sleeves and focus on a crewneck neckline. Black, brown, white, grey, and cream are the essential colors needed.

Jeans: I keep a focus on having at least one pair of dark wash, light wash, white, and black jeans. The trending style of jeans is constantly changing. I focus on straight, skinny, wide, and mom jeans.

Jackets: Like jeans, the trending style of jackets is changing through the seasons. I like having one denim jacket and one leather jacket. Depending where you live owning a puffer jacket or vest could also be essential to your wardrobe.

Sweaters: Sweaters vary depending on individual style. I focus on basic essential colors when building a capsule wardrobe. I stick to a crewneck, a turtleneck, and a cardigan.

Skirts: Skirts again depend on individual style, I prefer midi skirts. If you want skirts that you can pair with multiple outfits, focus on leather, denim, or silk, and the basic colors.

Tank tops: Tank tops are great for layering and wearing on their own, like other items stick to essential colors and a cut which is most flattering on you.

Dress pants: No matter where you work, I think having at least one pair of dress pants is essential. If you want one pair of dress pants focus on the color black and pants that are versatile. They can be paired to create casual and formal outfits for different occasions.

Bodysuits: Bodysuits are great for layering and making an outfit look put together. Depending how you plan to style a bodysuit, you can focus on sleeveless, short sleeve, or long sleeve. I stick to white and black.

Button-downs: Like dress pants, button-downs can create formal and casual outfits. For more casual use I like to buy linen button-downs and for a formal look that is not for business I purchase satin button-downs.

Hoodies: I like hoodies for comfort, layering, and to keep me warm. I focus on fleece zip-ups, crewnecks, and hooded sweatshirts.
